CCSv5.1 Profiler

I have just installed CCSv5.1.  I no longer see the profiler option under the tools menu as shown in the following wiki

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Profiler

Is there something extra I need to install to get the profiler functionality back (I used to see it in CCSv5.0.3)?  If so, where do I go to get the extra software?  Can I install it using the following menu options?

Help -> Install New Software

Thanks.

  • Hi Jim,

I assume you have previously installed the MCSDK?  We are working on fixing a compatibility issue with the version that is now built into 5.1.

What I would do is the following.  Uninstall 5.1 and reinstall being sure to deselect the MSA when reinstalling v5.1 RC1.  You should then have access to the analyser and see the profiler in v5.1

    Please keep us informed.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

yes I have installed the latest MCSDK.  I have uninstalled CCSv5.1 but I am unfamiliar with the MSA selection you are referring to (I do not see that option when I re-install CCS).  What is MSA and what menu in the CCS installation process is its selection?  Also, do I need to uninstall the MCSDK?  If the answer is yes then is there a way to easily uninstall everything or do I have to uninstall each component separately?  Thanks

    -Jim

  • Hi Jim,

first of all, what option do you normally select when installing CCS?  In the list of items (Ie C600 support, MSP430 support etc) there should be MSA (multicore system analyser).  Please make sure that you do not select this.  You may need to do a custom installation.

Please do not uninstall the MCSDK.

Please keep me posted whether you need further assistance.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

    Hi Lisa,

thanks for getting back to me so quickly.  The attached file has screen shots that show the selections that I am making.  In case you can't see the enclosed file, here are the selections:

    First screen

    • C6000 Single Core DSPs
    • C6000 Multi Core DSPs
    • OMAP

    Second screen

    • Compiler tools - C6000,  Documentation
    • Device Software -  C6EXFlow, DSP/BIOS v5, SYS/BIOS v6
    • Simulators - TI Simulators

    Third screen

    • JTAG Emulator Support - Blackhawk Emulators, XDS100 Class Emulator Support, Spectrm Digital Emulators

After the third screen, it summarizes the installation options as below.

     Install Directory: D:\ti/ccsv5

    Setup Type: Custom

    Total Download size: 838 MB.

    Product Families selected:
     C6000 Single Core DSPs

  • Hi Jim,

it would take me time, but I can certainly go through the process to see what you see for more guidance/screenshot.

In the mean time, please be patient.  I need a fresh environment here.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Jim,

I have the following instructions from development for you, so please let us know if they help.  Also see teh attached screenshot.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

The MCSDK installer by default installs the System Analyzer (aka MCSA 1.0 – MultiCore System Analyzer). However the System Analyzer included in MCSDK is intended for CCS5.0 (since CCS5.0 did not include the System Analyzer) and is not compatible with CCS5.1 (CCS5.1 already includes the System Analyzer).

If installing MCSDK on top of CCS5.1 you should uncheck MCSA 1.0 from the MCSDK installer and all will be fine.

  • Hi Lisa,

I don't see the instructions that you are referring to nor the screen shot.  Can you re-post them?  Thanks.

  • Hi Lisa,

I don't know whats going on as I can not reply to your last post and replying to your previous post is not being reflected in the forum.  In my last reply (the one that isn't showing up on the forum) I said that I don't see the instructions that you are referring to nor can I see the screen shot.  Can you re-post them?  Thanks.
