Asynchronous viewer update when adding an expression

Hi,

When I add an expression (like a memory location or variable name), It will not add it and it gives the enclosed error message which mention an internal error and a null argument.

I have looked up this post and want to confirm that the solution is to restart CCS (?) http://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/code_composer_studio/f/81/p/73131/265706.aspx

Matt,

Is the Debug View still open? It is the window that is typically open in the top left when debugging.

If you click on the core you are debugging and then try adding the watch expression does the error still occur?

Hi John,

Thanks for the response. It does not seem to matter if the core on the left is selected or not.

I just moved to RC1, but noticed RC2 was released last Thursday. Was there any work related to this in that release?

Hi there,

I started getting the same error after the last update I did. Now version is 5.1.0.09000 ; Restarted CCS, closed and reopened the debug window and terminated/restarted debug perspective didn't help.

It happens with all projects.

The problem vanished after I installed the latest 5.1.

Not sure what was happening.

Matt,

One thought as to the cause would be that Eclipse was updated. There is an issue with the expressions view when you update Eclipse to the latest service release. You can workaround it by disabling and re-enabling one of the columns that is displayed in the view. Apparently the id of the column changed in the service release and that causes the issue to show up.

how do I do that? right click on columns in the Expression window does not give me any options on what to enable/disable.
