cannot use ccsv5.1.0.09000 as an Eclipse plugin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Hi all,

I've installed this new release as a plugin into an existing Eclipse installation. However I'm not able to activate the license nor create a new CCS based project. I've also checked the Installation Details and CCS components are well installed. Here's my about Eclipse dialog.

Should I use the Eclipse 'Classic' version for the CCSv5.1? How could I fix this?

Regards,
Gaston

  • Hi Gaston,

I happen to be double checking whether there are issues installing over Eclipse.  I will get you any feedback as soon as I have it.

Do you have a ccsv5 directory?  Do you have a ccstudio.exe in your eclipse directory?  What if you launch using the ccstudio.exe app?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Gaston,

CCS is using C/C++ developers version of eclipse as a baseline. I think the main thing that would have been missing from SDK is CDT, which it looks like you have that installed. It is still possible that there might be a dependency that is missing. Could you check whether you have CCS Edit and CCS Debug perspectives available in WIndow->Open Perspective. Also, could you send your configuration information (Help ->About Eclipse -> Installation Details, then click on "Configuration" tab, there is a button at the bottom that allows you you save configuration information to a text file.

ALso, it looks like you are using SR1 version of eclipse. There is a compatibility issue between CDT SR1 and CCS in expression view. There is a manual workaround to get it fixed. I don't have the link right now, but I'll dig it up once we get past this issue.

    Lisa,

We do not install ccstudio.exe in plugin installation mode (i.e. when user has an existing eclipse).

No, I haven't this executable file in my eclipse directory (C:\eclipse).

Yes indeed, In fact I had to install CDT before executing ccsv5 installer.

I've checked it and these perspectives are not available.

Ok, I attach my configuration information as you suggested and the error log file as well. Please, let me know if you need more details.

  • Hi Gaston,

It looks like only a very small portion of CCS plugins was installed into your Eclipse. In that Installation Details dialog, you should see quite a few plugins starting with com.ti.ccstudio.*. You only have 4-5, where there should be at least over 40. Thus something went wrong during installation: In your eclipse directory there should be a configuration folder, there most likely will be some log files. File name is made up of bunch of numbers  with .log extension. If you would be able to zip them up and attach them. The piece of information that might also help is CCS install logs. They are located in C:\Program Files\InstallJammer Registry directory (it might be a hidden directory on your system). There are quite a few different logs, thus it is probably the simplest to zip them all. If you don't want to do that then ccsv5 and IDE subdirectories are most likely the critical ones.

  • Martin,

All right, I attach the files here below.

    3716.eclipse configuration dir.zip

    3480.InstallJammer Registry.zip

    I Hope it helps.

  • Gaston,

Configuration files helped to identify the issue. CCS uses what is called a CDT EPP package. There few different EPP packages on eclipse.org that users normally download. It seems that CDT EPP package has a slightly different content for CDT then when you install C/C++ Development Tools through Install New Software.  The missing dependency causes CCS plugins not be installed. See picture below for additional feature that needs to be installed. Once you update this, you would need to re-run CCS installer. I have checked that using SR1 Eclipse SDK + C/C++ Development Tools and memory view enhancements package allows to install CCS plugins.

  • forgot to add this is the issue that you will run into when debugging. There is a workaround provided in that thread as well.

  • Martin,

Thank you. Could you send me the Available Software dialog with better resolution? I'm not able to read it.

  • Hopefully nothing will be "shrunk" once I hit post. Just in case once you go to main Indigo update site you need to go to

Mobile and Device Development category and then select "C/C++ Memory View Enhancements" feature.
