CCS5 Evaluation Licence problem

Hi,

We have downloaded the full DVD image of CCS5 and are currently using it on two PC's for evaluation. Both these machines have previously been running licenced versions of CCS4. We are currently waiting for the CCS4 licences to be updated by TI to CCS5 and in the meantime have decided to use CCS5 under the 90-day evaluation.

Once PC works fine, however the other does not give us the option to choose the 90-day evaluation licence after installation, it only provides the options for:

Activate

Free Licence (XDS100 JTAG, Onboard emulators, Linux/Android, Simulators)

Code Size Limited (for MSP430)

i.e. we do not get the evaulate option. We have tried a complete uninstall/re-install, and have also uninstalled CCS4 but to no avail. We do notice that it seems to be picking up the CCS4 licence as it says that the licence is for CCS4 and not valid for CCS5 - not sure where this file is so we can't remove it.

The only difference between the two PC's is that one is XP and the other is Win7.

Any suggestions?

Regards

Richard

  • Richard,

It could be detecting that an eval has already been used on that machine.  It only lets you do the eval once.  You can use the attached license file.  It is good till the end of December.

If your CCSv4 subscription is still current you should be able to go to www.ti.com/myregisteredsoftware and generate your v5 license.  Go to the site and locate the entry for your v4 license (not the subscription).  Click on Manage and then it should give you a few options one being to upgrade your license.  Click on that.

We started sending the upgrade notifications this week (which really just give you the above info), however we are spreading them out over a few weeks as the download servers are getting swamped with all the people downloading 5.1.  Since you already have 5.1 installed and just need the license you should be good.

  • Hi John,

Thanks for the prompt reply; I'll try and generate the V5 licences as suggested.

  • Hi John,

Managed to upgrade and activate one of the CCSV4 licences to CCSV5, but the 2nd isn't available (no mention of it in the myregisteredsoftware section). We have two CCSV4 licences so I would expect to see the option to upgrade both to CCSV5 - is this something you can look into or do I need to contact a different TI division?

  • Richard,

Your best bet will be to contact ccs_license_file_help@list.ti.com

They are a bit swamped right now with the v5 upgrade so you may not hear back right away.  If you have the activation code that was used for v4 they should be able to find it in the system.  If not if you can provide your company name the could look up all activations for the company.

My guess is that it was activated under a different MyTI account.  If other users at your company have MyTI accounts you might want to have them check myregisteredsoftware to see if the license shows up under their account.

    Regards,

    John
