CODECOMPOSER: Clang Language Server server crashed

Hi,

I can't do anything with the latest CCS, as the clang server is constantly crashing.

"The Clang Language Server server crashed 5 times in the last 3 minutes. The server will not be restarted. See the output for more information."

Any idea how I can debug what is happening?

I assume the clang server returning an error is not the same as the clang server crashing.

I'm using

Version: 20.0.2.5__1.6.2

Default VS Code API: 1.92.2

    Update on this. It has to do with parsing .cla files.

    If I add the line:

        "files.associations": {
            "*.cla": "c"
        }
    in settings.json, then the .cla file is parsed but the clang server crashes.
    If I remove this so the .cla file is not parsed then the clang server does not crash.

    Hello,

    I have the same setting with my CCS 20 install to get the *.cla syntax highlighting but I have not had any issues. 

    Do you have many *.cla files open?

    Open the Output view (View -> Output) and set the output to "clangd". This will show clangd messages in the view:

    Actually not including the (single) .cla file has only made the error a bit less frequent. The error is still there.

    My output for clang has the following at the end.

    This is often the case. There is usually a lot of noise in these logs. They typically do not cause the server to crash however.

    Can you try cleaning the workspace cache?

    Also please note that we are aware of several clangd related issues with CCS 20.0.x. Frankly, it is not very robust with our environment. We plan on reworking it for CCS 20.2.0 (end of May). We hope for a much better experience with clangd with that release.

    Ok, thanks for the update. I did try deleting the cache previously with no improvement. I'll wait for the update in may.

    Hi Stephen,

    Can you try to download the latest clangd server from here https://github.com/clangd/clangd/releases/tag/19.1.2? Replace the one that come with CCS in this folder C:\ti\ccs{version}\ccs\theia\resources\clangd with the new version.
