Launchpad CCS4 graph fail

I am having dificulty with the data graphing in CCS V4.

 

I have been working through the exercises in the "Getting Started with the MSP430 LaunchPad

Student Guide and Lab Manual". Everything up to this point worked as expected.

 

Now in Lab 8 the capacitance data graphing is introduced.  

 

"Add a graph by clicking Tools - Graph - Single Time on the menu bar." does not work.

The "Graph" feature is not shown in any menus.

 

I have installed the Code Composer Studio Core Edition  Version: 4.2.4.00033 on AMD W7-64 4G HP laptop.

I also tried this on Intel XP 2G laptop.

 

 

Any ideas ?

    HI Peter,

    it sounds almost like you do not have SYS/BIOS or the RTA (real time analysis) tools in your installation.  What options did you select when installing CCS? 

    Please keep us informed and I will try to direct you to be able to add graphing capability.

    Hi Lisa,

    Thanks for your reply. 

    I now have installed the CCS4 MSP430 on a third XP machine with the same results.

    I suspect that the core edition does not have the graph feature. I have enclosed the install screen captures.

    In the mean time I have installed CCS5.1 and succeeded with the graphing feature.

    Hi Peter,

    ok, I hope that v5 will be ok for you.  Actually we always recommend the latest version.   I suspect that these tools were indeed not provided in the core edition.  I noticed from your screenshots XDIAS and BIOS tools were not installed.
