CODECOMPOSER: Copilot over marketplace for CCS based on VS code

Part Number: CODECOMPOSER

Tool/software:

Dear Supportteam,
is it possible to use github copilot and other extensions from Microsoft Marketplace for CCS20.0.2 based on VS Code.
VSX Registry just delivers folowing message.

Error fetching extensions. unable to verify the first certificate

Best regards

Siegfried

  • Hello Siegfried,

It is not recommend to try to use extensions from VS Code Marketplace with CCS 20 as there may be some compatibility issues. Copilot is a known example. We do hope that this will get supported in future releases when we update the Theia IDE version that CCS is based on.

Instead, I suggest only using extensions directly from VSX registry. I have been using Codeium with CCS 20 recently with good results so far.

    Thanks

    ki

  • Hi Ki,
my mai problem is that VSX registry is not working for me. I always get the error:
Error fetching extensions. unable to verify the first certificate
Seems to be a connection problem, tried several things like proxy settings etc. nothing changed.
    Any idea?
    Best regards

    Siegfried

  • Typically the proxy setting is the first thing I would check. But the error you get is a bit different than the one that typically occurs due to a missing proxy setting. I am checking with engineering about this.

In the meantime, you can go directly to the Open VSX registry and manually download the vsix file to manually install in CCS:

  • When doing some research online, I saw one suggestion regarding disabling the below option in the general settings:

    Perhaps give that try?

  • Hi,
I thought I tried this already and get an new error.
But now after deactivating and restart CCS, everything seems to work fine with VSX.
    Thank you for your support.

    Best regards
