Free Limited code CCSv4 license problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

I had installed the free licensed limited code CCS v4 from the file: setup_CCS_MC_Core.zip. I never got a dialog asking to activate the free license. After 90 days it popped a dialog box which says the 90 day eval period has ended. I downloaded the license file after going through the process. In the dialog box step 2 "install lic file" I browse where teh downloaded lic file is placed and click OK. The dialog box closes and pops up again. This means the license is not accepted.

I uninstalled CCsv4 and reinstalled again. here also,I was not told about the free license activation. The pop up box comes on again telling me the 90 day validation is over. How can i load the free license I received? In the first place, this license is supposed to be automatically loaded during install, as specified in the documents. Why is this not happening?

Can someone please help, I am unable to use CCS now.

  • Hello Ardish,

first of all, it sounds like perhaps you did not download the version you thought?  I say this because the CCSv4 code size limited version for the msp430 should not go through licensing steps.  Are you sure you downloaded the limited version?  (It is a separate download)   The link should be below.

Have you considered trying v5?  It has built in the same code size limited version you can use.

    Please keep us informed.

  • Hello Lisa, I had downloaded and installed CCSv4 from the same file as in your link. I reinstalled the software again but the problem persists. I tried v5 also from a downloaded file "setup_CCS_5.0.3.00028.zip". When I startup CCS first time after installation, here also I get the license pop up window. Now I got the license file from the TI site and put it in the box. After restarting CCS again, the ap shows "Unlicensed" in the task bar.

I have tried all possible combinations and now I am with a dead system. Please help.

    Thanks

  • Hi Ardish,

I am a bit confused.  You see in v4 the MSP430 code size limited version takes no license file and should not pop anything up regarding a license.  For v5, you need to download the latest release - 5.1 ... the 5.0.x releases were not intended for the MSP430.

Please give the latest 5.1 a try and keep me informed.  Do you get any install/license/or error logs?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Ardish,

I just thought I would check whether the tips were helpful and whether you have been able to get up and running with v5.1?

    Best Regards,
