CODECOMPOSER: Resource Explorer Keeps Refreshing with “Task Updated” Overlay in CCS 12.8.1

Hello TI Community,

I am experiencing a persistent issue with Code Composer Studio (CCS) version 12.8.1 on Windows. Whenever I open Resource Explorer, the panel continuously refreshes and displays a “Task Updated” overlay, making it impossible to browse or import any resources or example projects. The overlay never clears, and Resource Explorer remains unusable. If I somehow get to the project and try to import, the entire application becomes unresponsive. I have to force-quit CCS via Task Manager.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

  • Cleared CCS and browser caches

  • Restarted CCS and the computer

  • Checked network and proxy settings (direct internet connection, no proxy)

  • Uninstalled and reinstalled CCS 12.8.1

    Despite these efforts, the issue persists. I have also confirmed that my internet connection is stable.

Questions:

  • Is this a known issue in CCS 12.8.1?

  • Are there any workarounds or patches available?

  • OS: Windows 11 (64-bit)

    Some changes were made to the Resource Explorer server that impacts the Resource Explorer plugin on older CCS versions. Unfortunately these older version will not be patched. It is strongly recommended to update to the upcoming CCS 20.2.0 release scheduled for end of the month which will have the best performance with the current Resource Explorer.
