Code Composer 4 license issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Hi all,

I got a Launch Pad a few months ago, installed (free version of) CCS as instructed in the workbook and all was well. Recently (Sept.) I attended a TI/AVnet workshop and there we were required to install CCS4, commercial version. I uninstalled the free version of Code  Composer Studio and installed the full version as directed by our instructor.

At this time I am continuing with the LaunchPad and the workbook. I uninstalled the commercial version of CSS4 and reinstalled the CCS free version, but now when I start it is telling me that the license expired and gives me a few options, such as extending the evaluation period another 90 days. What can I do so that the free version of CSS does not display this license dialog? It looks like the uninstall of the commercial version left some debris behind. Thank you for your time and assistance. Salvador

  • Hi Salvador,

For CCS v4 the free code size limited MSP430 version is a separate download:

    http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/forms/self_cert_export.html?prod_no=setup_CCS_MC_Core.zip&ref_url=http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_ccstudio/CCSv4/latest/

For CCS v5 it is in the license options

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS#Code_Composer_Studio_Version_5_Downloads

I hope this helps.  If you stick with v4 you should uninstall CCS and install the free code size limited version.

    Please keep us informed.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Thank you Lisa.

I believe that I installed the code size limited version of CCS4. I will uninstall the CCS that I have now and follow the download link that you provided and reinstall from there. I will follow up tonight. Again, thanks for your help. Salvador

  • I am in awe....

I uninstalled the Code Composer Studio that I had installed, downloaded the ZIP that I found following your first link (CCS4), reinstalled and problem solved!

I checked the file that I just downloaded against the file that I had downloaded previously and as far as I can tell they are the same one. I don't know why the first install produced the above mentioned license dialog box. In any case, thank you for your assistance, it looks like I am ready to delve into the LaunchPad! Best regards, Salvador

  • Hi Salvador,

I am glad the instructions were able to help get you up and running :  )

All the best with the development.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa
