Can't re-install CCSv4.2.4.00033

My CCSv4 somehow screwed up its editor such that I could not close tabs or access the additional files by clicking on the tab expansion. After I rebooted, tried different workspaces, I decided to uninstall CCSv4 and start a new. I used windows Add/Remove tool to delete CCSv4.

Unfortunately, when I try to install, I get the error

"You are trying to overinstall CCS v4.0.0.0 with v4.2.4.00033 in same directory. This is not allowed. Please choose a different folder and try again"

I checked my "C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments" folder and I only have ccsv5. Could it be that ccsv4 thinks ccsv5 is a ccsv4 version? (its crazy, but I'm willing to believe anything now!)

Furthermore, I don't think I ever installed CCSv4.0.0.0!!!!

This is a show stopper. I have to get CCSv4 installed to get a product build done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well ccsv5 aint the problem. I uninstalled it and I still get the same error. Arg.

Next I tried to delete the whole Texas Instruments directory (there was nothing else to delete with the Add/Remove programs)

I get the same error but in addition I ge:

"You may also receive this warning if you have manually deleted you previous installed CCS in this folder rather than using CCS uninstaller."

Aaaarrrrrrrrggggggggggggggg!

Hi Eddie,

what do you get when you run the uninstaller? Have you run it multiple times, or is CCS no longer in your Add/Remove Programs or equivalent?

Could you please send the contents or your install jammer folder/registry as well as any error or dump logs generated? This wiki indicates how to do this.

I ran the windows XP Add/Remove programs tool. It listed CCSv4 and I selected "remove". It spent awhile removing it, then I tried the re-install. Thats when I got the error.

So I went back to Add/Remove and CCSv4 was still listed. I selected "remove" again and it said that CCSv4 was already uninstalled and would I list to remove it from the list. I selected OK.

Remove the InstallJammer registry folder. Then try a clean installation.

Hi,

I'm sorry you're having so many problems with uninstalling CCSv4. Please remove the files in c:\program files\installjammer registry\ccsv4 (if you're on a 32 bit machine) or c:\program files\installjammer registry(x86)\ccsv4 (on a 64 bit machine). Please note, "installjammer registry" is a hidden folder and you may need to make it visible from the folder options.

Unfortunately I didn't read your installjammer suggestion before I panicked and deleted the entire Texas Instruments folder. After I deleted all the Texas Instruments folder items, the installer warned me about the 4.0.0.0. issue, but it allowed me to proceed with the install. So far 4.2.4 seems to be running satisfactorily.
