CODECOMPOSER: CCS unistallable on Linux

Part Number: CODECOMPOSER
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Tool/software:

Guys, who told you that "systemctl restart udev" would work on Linux? _ANY_ Linux these days.

Your latest CCS is uninstallable on Linux. It fails after trying to install the very first PAK because that  "systemctl restart udev" returns non-zero.

Ever heard of "udevadm" command? It doesn't require a reboot. It is not a stupid Windoze, it is Unix that is not used to reboot on any sneeze... "man udevadm", HIGHLY recommended.

Then, who told you that /root (or homedir") is a good place to install this monster to? Ever heard of regular Unix places and, particularly /opt where all vendor's monsters are usually installed to. "Linux FHS", highly recommended reading...

Then, do you know any modern Linux environment that would run any desktop as root? And why somebody would do any development using such a monster that has more bugs than Fido has fleas as root?

How do you think such a monster installed in a regular system-wide directory (MUST be done as root) can update itself when running as a regular user?

Ever heard that Unix is multi-user and there might be several users that would use that monster (if they are insane to ever try)? If you install it into a homedir each and every user would have to install a full copy of that for himself. Do you think disk space grows on the trees?

And that goes on and on...

To TI suits if there are any left even with a part of brain -- PLEASE FIRE all those totally incompetent, sorry for an expression "developers" and try to find somebody who at least SEEN Linux once. ANY Linux. Whatever your "developers" do is not just plain stupid, it is totally incompetent.

Sorry for a rant but it's been like this for at least last 10 years and never changed ever since... I won't even start on that Uniflash that only supports Spectrum Digital XDS560xxx that can be only get from eBay as the company itself is long out of existence and requires performing awkward entrechats to support Black Hawk devices that are still available but with software 10 years old from their site...
