CODECOMPOSER: how to set up Clang-tidy?

Tool/software:

In CCS 20.2, how do I set up clang-tidy?
Currently, I have a .Clang-Tidy file in the project directory, which -according to the clangd log- is loaded, but does not generate warnings in the IDE.
Do I need to configure something in the IDE? Maybe disable the build-in Clang-Tidy menu? Or is my file just broken?

I tried creating a .clang-tidy file in my project folder but it doesn't seem to generate any warnings either. I only see them when I specify the check in the CCS Settings. I'll need to investigate further.

I suspect this may be due to the overhaul we did with clangd. The engineer who is most familiar with this is currently away so it may take a few days for an update

Hi Lukas,

Sorry for the delay. Engineering feels that having rules in a file may not be supported. I would like to confirm with one particular engineer that has been away. I believe he returns later this week.

Were you able to confirm this?
If it is not possible, I would add this as a suggestion. .clang-tidy as a file is standard, It helps with toolchain compatibility and makes it much easier to ensure consistent coding standards between people and projects. And since .clang-format works, it would only be consistent for both to work.

Surprisingly I am having a hard time getting confirmation on this. Based on my own internal analysis, it seems like the file is not used when clang-tidy is run from the CCS IDE. Interestingly, if I run clang-tidy from the command line with --list-checks, it does seem to pick up the checks in the file.

I agree that we should look at .clang-tidy file. If I can confirm that this is currently not supported, I will request that we do in a future release.
