  • Hello Pratheep,

this is likely due to different dll versions.   What version of dll at the two using?   What version of CCS and IAR are you using?   Does you FET show up as a CDC Class USB device in the device manager?

Have a look at this wiki topic as well.

Please keep us posted and we can go from there.

  • Hi,

My MCU is MSP430F2619, also i am using the target board and the USBFET430UIF

In TARGET BOARD : whenever i burn a program(LED blink) and remove the power supply, obviously LED stops blinking, BUT on giving power supply the next time, the LED starts blinking automatically

Which means the program resumes when the MCU gets power.

How do i erase all memory (previous code) before i dump my new program. For now i just punch the debug button and just wait for the program to get loaded. I get the "MCU is busy" error, but i punch the retry button a couple of times and it works.

BUT, i want to know how to erase all memory (previous code) before i dump my new program.

    please help

    Thanks.

  • Also my CCS version is, Version: 4.1.2.00027

  • Hello,

see the attached screenshot to get to the memory options.   Also note I would very highly recommend upgrading to the latest production version of CCS which is 4.2.4.  The screenshot starts from Project->Properties.

    Please keep us posted.

  • Hi Lisa,

I Am using CCSv4 and IAR-v6. after am fusing a code from IARv6 the FET is not communicating with CCS. In device manager it showing CDC. i have downloaded the CDC driver  but it is not communicating with CCS still.

  • Hello Lisa,

Thanks for the quick reply, i have tried selecting the Erase main and info memory option, but my problem persists.

Let me take you through the steps i take to load a program.

Step 1: CCS project > source file > LED blink program > punch Debug

Step 2: punch the green play button > LED blinks

Step 3: Terminate the program (red box button)

Step 4: change the source file (copy-paste the dac program) > save it

Step 5: Punch the debug button.

NOW i get an error "Error initializing emulator: MSP-FET430UIF is already in use."

Step 6: I punch the retry button a couple of times, the program eventually gets loaded into the MCU, program runs fine.

Now, how do i erase or stop the execution of previous code before i load the new code??

  • Hi Pratheep,

what you are seeing is caused by the dll version.  Please see this wiki.   If you wish to use both the latest IAR and CCSv4 you will have to upgrade and downgrade your FET each time to go in between the two tools.  Otherwise you will have to migrate to or install CCSv5.1 which will then have both IAR and CCS using the same dll and resolve your issue.

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/MSP_Debug_Stack

If you can not install or migrate to v5.1 please let me know.  I can send you the upgrade/downgrade utility offline.

    BEst Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Janmay,

Have a look under Project->properties->CCS Debug->Target.  Here you will find the options on the behaviour to do with debug.  Ie halting the target, automatic loading, etc.

I have attached a screenshot for you as well.

    Please keep us informed.

    Best Regards,

    LIsa

  • Hello Janmay,

I thought I would check whether you were able to find the options you needed to erase first etc when debugging and loading.

    Best Regards,

    LIsa

  • Hi Lisa,

Yes, now i do not get any "MCU is busy" error. The screen shot that you provided helped me greatly.

Thanks a lot and wish you a very happy, prosperous and  "errorless" new year.

    best wishes

  • Hi Janmay,

very glad to hear and a happy new year to you as well.
