CODECOMPOSER: UI Click Delay Issue in CCS 20.0.2.0 After Remote Desktop Disconnect

Part Number: CODECOMPOSER

Tool/software:

Hello,

I'm currently using Code Composer Studio (CCS) version 20.0.2.0.

I'm experiencing a UI responsiveness issue that seems to occur specifically after disconnecting from a Windows Remote Desktop session. When I try to use CCS on my laptop afterwards, I notice a delay in mouse clicks — the UI doesn't respond immediately and usually takes one or two extra clicks to react properly.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Is this a known problem or is there any workaround I can try?

Thanks for your help!

  • Hello,

I'm experiencing a UI responsiveness issue that seems to occur specifically after disconnecting from a Windows Remote Desktop session.

I use Windows Remote Desktop often and have never experienced this issue. Sometimes I do see some laggy behavior because of my antivirus/security software running on my laptop but it is not related to Windows RDE. What is your host OS version?

    Thanks

  • Thanks Ki -

    I'm using Windows 11.

Also, I'm wondering — could the issue be related to keeping the IDE open for a long time?
Have there been any known cases where CCS behaves abnormally if it's left running continuously?

  • It is possible that there is some memory leak.

20.0.2 is an older version. Can you try updating to the current latest 20.2.0? It has many improvements to stability.

    Thanks

  • Sorry.

I checked and it turns out that the CCS version is 20.2.0.

And after the above problem occurs, if I just reboot CCS, it works fine. Will that help?

    Thank you.

If you now do an RDE and disconnect, does the issue immediately appear again?

  • It happens intermittently after doing the RDE and disconnecting.

  • I just tried reproducing this again and I still do not see any issue with CCS after disconnecting from an RDE session.

    I just to confirm:

You have a Windows 11 laptop running CCS 20.2.0. It works ok. Then, from this laptop, you use Windows remote desktop to log in and use a remote Windows machine. Then you terminate the remote desktop session. Then you notice the CCS IDE UI to start to lag/delay for mouse clicks?

  • The part where ccs20.2.0 is used normally on a laptop is correct. However, the direction of the Windows remote connection is from Window11 desktop (Not CCS) to Window11 laptop (Have CCS), and the problem occurs when you use CCS on the desktop, then disable remote, and then try to use CCS on the laptop.

Thank you for clarifying. This is a bit different than my use case. I will try setting up an environment like this and try it.

I tried this scenario but I still did not see the issue. After disconnecting the remote session, I went to the remote machine and continued to use CCS 20.2.0 without issue. This is a very strange issue you are seeing in your environment.
