USB Debug Interface driver change

I have a USB Debug Interface box (MSP-FET430UIF) that currently is running drivers for version 5 of Code Composer Studios. I need to reload the drivers for the latest version 4 of CCS on it instead of what it has. How exactly do I do this?

I downloaded the appropriate drivers and placed them in the correct place in the IDE driver folder, but the IDE won't load the drivers. It doesn't even detect the interface box at all.

Any help would be appreciated,

Hi Dustin,

In your start menu under Texas Instruments->MSP-FET430UIF Debug Interface you should be able to find the upgrade/downgrade utility to go between the two dll versions need for v4 and v5.

Thanks for the info. However, I don't seem to have that folder. The only folders I have under Texas Instruments are:

bios_6_32_02_39

ccsv4

xdctools_3_22_01_21

Do I need to download v5 of CCS in order to do this?

HI Dustin,

it will be in your start menu .... not in a folder. Click the windows button to get the start menu and select all programs.

Hi Dustin,

perhaps I misread your first post as indicating you also have v5. If you do not have or do not want v5 I will have to send you the upgrade/downgrade utility in a separate file offline. Look at the wiki I pointed you to as well ...

Please let me know if you need the version offline.

Lisa,

I think I need the utility offline. I do not have v5 and do not plan to use it at the moment. I do not have this utility under the start menu as you and the wiki have indicated. I think it would be best if you sent it to me offline. What's the best way to provide you with an email address?

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the email. I was able to download it from the previous email you sent me. However, I ran the executable you sent me and it claimed to have uninstalled DLLv3, yet the the usb debug interface still isn't recognized by CCS and I'm not sure how to download the previous drivers w/o CCS.

Could you perhaps provide me with instructions on how to do so?

Also, when I run the executable, it never prompts me for any inputs, as outlined in the wiki instructions. It simply runs and then says that DLLv3 has been uninstalled. Yet, it doesn't seem to have actually worked...

Hi Dustin,

If you installed the package I sent you, you should have an upgrade/downgrade utility in the start menu. This will be under All Programs->Texas Instruments->MSP-FET430UIF Debug Interface.

Is this the upgrade/downgrade tool you tried? What problematic behaviour do you still see that it seems it may not have worked?

Lisa,

Thanks for your help. I finally got it to work. The problem was, I was accessory the utility via an explorer window instead of through the start menu. When I retried it that way, it worked well.
