Problems in the debug session.

I can't debug the temperature sense demo, given as part of the launchpad Workshop with an MSP430G2553. I can build the projec, but of i try to debug the same project, the
program doesn't work an more, and there is a windows message saying "the program will be closed"

I'm using Windows 7 ultimate x64, Code Composer Studio Version: 5.1.0.09000, installed on "C:\ti\ccsv5"

I try to solve it installing the CCS in another PC with Windows Xp SP3, but i had the same result, with the difference that CCS get closed without advice.
1586.Project-TS.rar
this is the complete project.

Thanks for your help.

  • Hi,

Although I don't have the exact same board and device as you (therefore I couldn't test the project you sent), from your description I imagine there is may have a corruption either in your workspace or in one of the temporary files from CCS. Can you check the sections General IDE and Debug of the troubleshooting page below?

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi Oscar,

    a couple further things.

    - have you tried on an English PC?  I know it might be inconvenient, however, there have been certain instances where language packages cause some issues with certain programs.

    - could you try renaming ctools.dll?

    - is your CCS up to date?  Have you tried running an update?

I also do not have your exact hardware so it might be hard for me to try and reproduce this.

    Please keep us informed.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Oscar,

I thought I would check whether there is any update to your enqury?  Were our tips helpful?

  • My Laptop and my desktop pc's are in spanish. (greetings from colombia).

Right now CCS5 is working fine in my laptop, but i have installed the 90 day trial version instead of 16Kb Limited size for MSP430.

I know that it is not the best way, but...

  • HI Oscar,

ok, keep us informed.   By the way, I am a bit confused now.  You say you are using CCS5 but with CCS the code size limited MSP430 version is built in.  So there is no second installation necessary unless you wish to have two installations of two different license types which does not seem to make much sense.  Could you please confirm that you are only using v5?

In v5 you can also get to the licensing settings by Help->Code Composer Studio Licensing Information ... there is a manage tab.

    Best Regards,
    LIsa

  • When i had the code size limited version, it wasn't working. The CCSV5 in this version crashes when i want to debug my code. i had to unistall it and erase any trace of it around my pc.

Then i have installed the full version and it's working fine. (almost for the remaining days)
  • Hi Oscar,

that is odd and something that I have not been able to reproduce here.  I have tried installing MSP430 only support, code size limited and have no crashes or issues.

Is this something you would still like us to investigate?  Or are you happy with the full version?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa
