CCSv5 Free license using XDS100v2

Hello CCS Champs,

Can you please calrify:

1) Which version of CCSv5 can support a free license for using with XDS100v2?

2) Can it support XDS100v3 also?

3) is it possible to  generate use the use the free license without buying an XDS100 or BeagleBoard.? If yes How?

4) if answer to 3) is No,

- we plan to buy Beagleboard C5. Will it help with a free license on CCS v5? Can this free license work on multiple PCs with XDS100v2. Or node locked only one PC.

- Alternatively we also plan to buy XDS100v2. Will it help with a free license on CCS v5? Can this free license work on multiple PCs with XDS100v2. Or node locked.

Thanks

Best Regards

  • Just download CCSv5.1 from the CCS download page.  When you run it for the first time it will give you an option to generate a free license that will work with XDS100.   On each machine you install and run it on you will be able to generate the free license.

This also works with XDS100v3, however you likely don't want to buy an XDS100v3.  XDS100v3 is for cJTAG enabled devices only.

  • Hi John,

    Thanks!

I assume this has no time limit and even holds for MCUs/MSP/C2000/Stellaris as well as for ARM9/Cortex -Ax/C5000/C6000 processors.

    Kindly confirm on the same.

The offer looks too good to be true. I am sure a lot of customers will love it....THANKS

  • Use of CCSv5 and the XDS100v2 has no time limit.

One thing to note however, is the XDS100v2 does not support the MSP430.

  • Thanks Brandon,

Yes indeed the MSP uses a special FET.  I am not into MCUs however wanted to clarify this for my MCU colleagues and their customers

I think XDS100v2 can be used for C2000 and Stellaris families. isn't it? So with this XDS510v2, the MCU development on CCS is free? I heard something like code size limited editions of CCS. Just want to clarify that.

  • XDS100 can be used with C2000 and Stellaris, the only limitation is the speed of the XDS100.

There is a free 16KB code size limited license available for MSP430.
