CCS Issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430WARE

Dear all,

Actually I'm working with 2 controllers namely C2000 and MSP430(Launchpad etc). Initially I installed CCS V4.1.2 with free license for XDS100 emulators,EVM's on registering my MAC address. But while using MSP430 there are 2 issues

1)I can't able to access the MSP430 ware and grace tool eventhough i installed it as a separate package.

2)While debugging I am receiving an error as cannot write to target. I don't know whether this is due to MSP430 emulator not supported for this CCS V4.1.2 license. The licensed icon in the top of the menu bar gets changed to unlicensed whenever I'm using MSP430.

So to overcome these issues I installed CCSV5(the one which is recommended for MSP430 as well as C2000 users) But in that I don't know how to fix the licensing option life time for these devices and their emulators.

And I also installed CCSV4 code limited version for MSP430 for using launchpad. But there also i'm facing workspace and installation conflict and there also i can't able to laod the program into target.

So kindly let me know any one version(mainly CCS V5 alone) that can overcome all these issues like emulators(both JTAG & on board USB) working both for C2000 and MSP430 (Inturn supports MSP430ware, grace tool, launchpad, can get access to all example projects of MSP430 and C2000 etc) and free licensing by registering my MAC address.

  • Hello Saravanakumar,

unfortunately these are different licenses for v5. What I would recommend is that you keep two installations.   When installing the first time make sure to select the free limited license for use with the XDS100.   Then do another installation selecting the free code size limited MSP430 license.

  • Hello Lisa,

So, there is no way of making use of the same CCS installation for both LaunchPads (I have an MSP-430 and a C2000 LaunchPad)? Sorry if I repeat this issue, wanted to be sure before having to install the CCS on another machine, and it would more practical to have everything on one PC rather than on two.

    Regards,

    Enrique.

  • Hi Enrique,

    you have two options

-> one installation for each license type. You can have another CCS installation in a different directory

-> manually switch license types depending on which target you are working on.  You can do this in Help->CCS Licensing Information.  There is a manage tab.

    Hope this helps.

    Lisa

  • Excellent... It's crystal clear now.
