  • Hi Diego,

does this happen for each project/target?  Have you tried renaming ctools.dll?   Could you possibly zip and send any dump files and error logs generated?  Please see this wiki on where and what gets generated.  What OS are you using?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • hi,

my SO is windows xp sp3.

I have tried two proyects for MSP430F227. One is the example for the ez430-rf2500. An other is an example of LED generated with CCS.

what is the path of ctools.dll? I am trying to search in "c:\ti" directory but this file wasn't found.

I have searched dmp files but only I have found the log that I paste above.

  • Hi Diego,

ok, thanks for searching.   Please try renaming ctools.dll and keep us informed.  Some colleagues of mine may need to digest the log if that does not work.

ctools.dll can be found in your ccs installation directory.  For example C:\ .....\ccsv4 .. and usually under the ccsv4 directory you may find a couple copies in various directories under emulation.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • hi,

    I send you the logs.

    0447.logs.zip

I searched the ctools.dll file in all hard disk. As a result the file don't exist. I have installed the ccs  Version: 5.1.0.09000 with only the MSP430 support. So, could be that this file be used by other platforms?

Could be this issue about the microsoft c++ redistributable? or conflict with other Eclipse IDE instalations (I installed and desisntalled other Eclipse IDE some month ago)?.

  • I'm also missing ctools.dll

  • Hi Erik,

that is ok as if you are only using the MSP430 it will not be there.   Could you possibly do a search for any dump file or further logs?  I am going to see if I can get some colleagues to work on digesting them.

    Thanks and regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi Diego/Erik,

if there are relevant dump or crash log files, these should be found in the .TI folder.  Please just do a quick double check.

Otherwise if there is still nothing there, the other thing that can help us is the debug server log.  Could you possible enable Debug Server logging from the CCS support menu and provide the file created?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • hi,

ok, I am goint to search again and enable debug server.

Are there some redistributable microsoft c++ package that could be reinstalled to try repair the issue?

CCS hangs when is parsing files to perform the debug mode, as can see in the picture above. It seems that hangs when is using some external functions (dll for example).

    best regards

  • Hi Diego,

ok please keep me informed.   It is possible it may have to do with residuals from eclipse/bad installation, however in our experience if the JRE was uninstalled or there were issues CCS itself would have issues and not just debug mode.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Diego,

I just thought I would check whether there is an update to your enquiry.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa
