Hi Arif,
yes, you should be able to use older/other code generation tool versions. You can point to the installation and add it to CCSv5 from Window->Preferences->Code Composer Studio->Build->Compilers.
See the screenshot and please keep us informed whether this helps.
Best Regards,
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
Thank you for your answer I tried it but i can not add it.
A message appears "Support for this tool is not avaliable"

Hi Arif,
what v5 version are you using? (are you using the latest v5.1?)
Have you previously had v4 installed? If so instead of the program files directory, I would see if you get the same issue if you add a tool discovery path as C:/ ..../ccsv4/tools/compiler. I know some windows versions don"t like things installed in the program files directory.
I have even older versions of the C2000 tools installed in my CCSv5 but let me try to add that exact version and see if I can reproduce the issue.
What happens if you do the suggested update?
Best Regards,
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
I use ccs Version: 5.1.0.09000 and I have the latest updates for ccs V5.
Also I have ccs version 4.2. I can use all code generation tools versions with ccs 4.2.

I will try to change the directory of code generation tool.
Best regards.
Arif.
Hi Arif,
ok please keep us posted. Otherwise of course we can continue to look into this with you.
Best Regards,
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
I re installed CCS V5.1 and Code gen V5.2.8 but it does not work.
I use windows 7 enterprise (english)

Best regards
Arif.
Hi Arif,
could you try adding it from Help->Install New Software and point to the local installation?
Please keep us informed.
Best Regards,
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
My colleague and I, tried the things what you say. We both can not use code generation tool V5.2.8 with ccs V5.1.
I changed my windows 7 language options to english and reinstall the CCS but the same thing occurs.

Best regards
Arif.
Hi Arif,
could you do one last thing before we bring in development here.
Could you please install that version of the code generation tools fresh in another directory? It seems like it is not finding the tools for some reason.
Try getting the CGT from here .. there is a link to the myti loging for selection and download.
http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Compiler_Releases
If this does not work we will have to do some digging as this is not reproducable on my systems here.
Best Regards,
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
I did it before.
I installed the "ti_cgt_c2000_5.2.8_setup_win32.exe" in multiple different directories. It does not work.
Best regards,
Arif.
Hi Arif,
ok, as soon as I have feedback I will let you know. One thing I am wondering is whether you need to install 5.2.0 first and then 5.2.8. 5.2.8 is actually a production patch for 5.2.0. So I am wondering whether 5.2.8 is complaining because it wants to install itself on top of 5.2.0. Could you please give this a try?
Best Regards,
LIsa
HI Arif,
ok, I will post any feedback from the development team as soon as I have it. I have already been in touch with them about this since the other day. I have tried again to reproduce this, this time on a VM and get it to install without problem, even without 5.2.0.
Best Regards,
Lisa
Hi Arif,
Could you try opening the same CCS on a new workspace? Once CCS launches, the C2000v5.2.8 tool should already show up in the Preferences dialog. Then, if you still see the error message, close CCS, zip up the entire workspace folder, and post it here.
Thanks,
- Baltasar
Hi Baltasar,
Same problem occurs . I have included the workspace zip file.
Best Regards
Arif.
Hi Arif,
Please try the attached patch.
1122.com.ti.ccstudio.builddefinitions.generator_5.1.0.201110281600.zip
Follow these steps to install the patch onto your CCSv5.1.0.09000 image:
I see that our forum app mangles the names of attached files slightly. The expected name of the file I attached in previous post should be "com.ti.ccstudio.builddefinitions.generator_5.1.0.201110281600.zip". Please rename your downloaded file to this name before performing the 4 steps above.

Hi Arif,
Could you please, one more time, zip up the workspace generated after the patch and post it for me?
Thanks,
- Baltasar
Arif,
Here is an updated version of the patch. Please try it out following the same steps as before.
5810.com.ti.ccstudio.builddefinitions.generator_5.1.0.201110281600.zip
Thanks,
- Baltasar
Hi Baltasar and Lisa,
It works now. :)
Thank you for your help and support.
Best regards
Arif.

Hi Arif,
glad to hear we now have it resolved.
All the best with development.
Best Regards,
Lisa
Arif,
The fix has been implemented and will be available in CCSv5.2.0. For CCSv5.1.0.09000, please continue to use the latest patch. Once CCSv5.1.1 becomes officially available, I will post a CCSv5.1.1 compatible patch to this forum thread.
Thanks,
- Baltasar
