Is the new CodeComposer (Version 5) supported by Windows 64-bit machine?

Hello,

I have tried installing CCV5 on my computer, but it has failed 3 times!!  My computer is running Windows 7 and is a 64-bit laptop.  Are you sure the software runs in 64-bit environment?  Or I need to obtain a 64-bit compatible version??

Please let me know ASAP.

Thanks,

Arash

  • Hi Arash,

Have you tried the lite or full installer?  Would you please send further details on errors you see or what you are experiencing?  I am using CCSv5 and v4 on an 64 bit Win 7 machine without issue.  Do you have administrator rights?

Would you be able to zip and send any error logs or dump files (.dmp) generated?  Also the contents of the install jammer directory.

Please see this wiki for further information

    Please keep us informed.

  • Hello Lisa,

I'm not sure if it's the lite or the full version.  I used the link that TI sent me.  There are two modes:  Online and Offline.  I tried the online download and it failed after 30%.  I'll try to capture the log and send it to you next time.  I just copied the offline image of CCv5 and after saving I realize that it has a _win32.  you say it's compatible with both 64 and 32 windows.  But, why is there a win32 at the end of the file name?  Do I need to get a separate download for 64 bit or they are the same?  Update:  I used the offline installer and it successfully installed v5 on my 64-bit windows 7 machine.  However the name of the offline installer has a _win32 at the end of it, which makes me wonder if it's gonna work properly on my machine or not.

==> Meanwhile, since I had CC version 4 on my laptop, I tried to uninstall it and it doesn't even let me uninstall it.  I have attached the error message I get when I attempt to uninstall CCv4.  What do I need to do to uninstall it?  Please note that currently I have ccV4 on my C drive and CCv5 on my D drive.  If I uninstall ccv4 from my C drive, does it affect anything on my D drive?

    Thanks,

    Arash

  • HI Arash,

yes CCSv5 that you installed (offline installer) will work in 64 bit windows and there is no seperate download.  That is what I have been successfully using for months here.   Even v4 is not problem at all in 64 bit Win 7.  Once again, no special download.

So go ahead and give v5 a try.

Regarding the uninstall error you see, I have seen this myself once in a while.   You can safely ignore it and my recommendation is simply to delete the v4 installation directory manually should you not wish to also have v4 on the PC.  The drive should not be affecting anything.

I have glad the full installer work and all the best with development.  I hope this clarifies what you are seeing.

    Lisa

  • Thanks a lot Lisa for the help.  By the way, due to administrative issues in Windows 7, is it better to have the program installed in C drive or D drive?

    Arash

  • Hi Arash,

C or D drive should make no difference.   Glad I was able to help clarify a couple things.

    Best Regards,
