CSSv5: stdout printf

Hi

printf works in CCS 5.. Please, give some deatils if you want someone to help you.

Apologies. I do not claim that printf does not work. I have imported the <stdio.h> header file. My project successfully builds.

My question is then: what view or window do I need to enable so that I can see the output of the printf statements?

Hi,

Of course you have to run the program  on a target to see any output. To output goes to Console window.

Please give me a "hello world" equivalent that should show up on the console for ccsv5 using the delfino option. I have been trying way to long to do this.

Honestly!?  Why does this have to be so hard and why do these answers just further obfuscate printing to the console!???  The simple answer is to increase your heap (and stack too, sometimes...just go ahead and do it).  400 is not nearly enough for more complicated applications writing lots of data to the console, though it's probably enough for the Hello example.  I started w/stack and heap sizes of 1024.  That worked for a while and then stopped working when I expanded my program to print more.  When printing to the console doesn't work, it just doesn't work or, worse, you get some obscure message about an invalid File ID or something even more obscure (again, why does this have to be so hard???!!!).  All I can tell you is to try increasing your heap and stack again.  I've gone to 2048 and now I am at 4096, which works...for now.  Until someone at TI actually explains what's going on in plain ENGLISH, I can't tell you why, but it works.

sometimes it could really be that easy! increasing the stack+heap-size worked for me!
it is a bit strange, that not even an ordinary hello-world works with the standard configuration...

I had to add a "\n" in order for printf to work.

" If you set a breakpoint in a program after a C I/O function, you may not see the output taking effect if the stream is buffered. If you need to see the output, you need to make sure the buffer is flushed. You can do this for an _IOLBF stream by making sure to end each printf format string with a '\n' (new line). Since the stdout stream is line buffered this will cause the buffer to be flushed."
