CCS files needed for mass production programming?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430G2231

What CCS files do I need for mass production of programming a MSP430G2231?

I know how to setup the build process to generate a .hex file, but is that the only file that is needed for programming?

Will the utility that is programming the MSP430G2231 know the starting address and such based only on the .hex file generate?

  • Hi,

If you are using one of the production programmers like the MSP-GANG430, the .hex file is pretty much all you need, as the hex file formats carry address information. Check Appendix A of the MSP-GANG430 User's guide for file formats and chapter 1 for the setup procedure.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Hi Randy,

yes you can get CCS to create a hex file.  See the attached screenshot.  Project->Properties->CCS Build-> have a look at how you can attach a predefined post build step.

Rafael is correct our only programmer in a production like direction at all is the gang programmer.  This can program 8 identical MSPs with the same firmware at one time.

Please keep us informed if my answer helps you.

    Best Regards,
