ccs5 locks up reloading modified file

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

target configuration is c6747 cycle accurate simulator

after rebuilding ccs5 pops up the "Reload the program automatically" dialog.  when I click OK, most of the time ccs5 locks up and the process must be killed.

also tried saying no then reload n debugger - locks up here too...

any ideas?

  • also tried clicking the Restart button.  get a dialog saying "Error - Stack not available at this time" and ccs5 is locked up tight. requires killing process.

FYI ccstudio.exe process is maxing out one of my CPUs

  • Hi Kurt,

Are you still having this issue?   Could you please try renaming ctools.dll?  Does this occur with all projects/workspaces?  Would you please attache any error logs or dump files (.dmp) generated.

    More information on this here

  • 1) Rename ctools.dll?

    2) Yes, it happens with all the projects and debuggers I have tried (simulator and xds100v2). The only way I can work right now is to kill and restart the debugger between edits.

I have tried all of the standard troubleshooting like /clear and delete .metadata.

Don't have any logs but I will create some as I work in the future.

  • HI Kurt,

ok any logs you could provide would be of benefit.  And yes, please try renaming ctools.dll and keep us informed.  You should be able to do a search in the CCS install directory for it.  It should be under the emulation folder ...

  • Hi Kurt,

just thought I would check for an update/any available logs.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • thanks for the concern.

but, in the interest of getting work done I no longer reload modified files.  every time I make a change I terminate and restart the debugger.

I just don't have time to debug ccs5. or my installation.  or whatever it is. there were a lot of strange quirks in the ccs4 debugger.  ccs5 has been better.  I figure this is one of those quirks in ccs5.

  • HI Kurt,

ok, thanks for the update and sorry for the inconvenience.  We are here if things like this continue to come up in future.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa
