CCSv4 - XDS560v2 multiple ethernet connections

Hi

We have multiple XDS560v2 (Spec Dig) emulators in the lab and we're having issues where user1 has left the station but left the remote PC connected to the emulator. When  user2 wants to connect to the emulator, user2 gets the "Error initializing Emulator" as per the info found in the following link.

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/XDS560v2_System_Trace

What then should the user2 do to get access to the emulator?

Also, it would be a lot better if the warning was "Emulator connected to another user", or even better "Emulator connected to another user, would you like to disconnect?"

Stating "Error initializing Emulator" is way to generic. A hint on how to debug the issue would be helpful.

Cheers

As far as I know, there is no way to remotely disconnect user1 from the emulator via software (this helps preventing ill-behaved users from ruining other's work).

In this case you can either physically reset the emulator in the lab or gain access to user1's PC and disconnect it. Another idea is having the emulator connected to an Ethernet power switch and therefore allowing it to do a cold reset remotely (that's what I have here).

The update to the error message is a valid request, which has the potential of becoming a more and more common scenario with the XDS560v2 STM and its Ethernet interface. Therefore I filed the enhancement request SDSCM00042934 (check its status in the link SDOWP in my signature below).

  • Same thing in v5.1.  I will file a request for this.

Error initializing emulator: (Error -2083 @ 0x0) Unable to communicate with the emulator. Confirm emulator configuration and connections, reset the emulator, and retry the operation. (Emulation package 5.0.520.0)

  • Guess rafael beat me to it.
