About once a week I receive the following message when bringing up Code Composer v5:

"CCSv5 Error Reporting Tool

An exception log was detected from a previous application run. Would you like to email information regarding this exception to Texas Instruments for analysis?

Microsoft Outlook users can expect a security warning dialog to appear. Please click 'Yes' when that dialog appears."

What kind of analysis would be done by Texas Instruments on this message?

I am checking with engineering, as the apps teams don't see these messages as well.

Todd,

There are three types of logs that get sent as part of this message.

JVM Error logs and Crash Dump files, both of these are described here http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Troubleshooting_CCS#JVM_Error_Logs

Last type of file is the workspace .log, these are located in WorkspaceRoot/.metadata

All three types of logs are processed and put in a database. Once a month we look at the data to pick out high frequency crashes and java exceptions. If we have adequate information, then bugs are filed in defect tracking system for resolution.

Hi,

first, sorry for re-opening this answered prior thread. Unfortunately we get this message once a day when we bring up Code Composer v5.2.

Is it possible to disable the error reporting tool or these startup messages? We don't have an email client on our development system and can't send these logs.

There should be a "don't bother me again" check box on the bottom of the dialog. Click that the next time you see the dialog. If for some reason that doesn't work, you can also rename "errorreportingtool.exe" in the CCS installation folder.

Thank you AndyW for your answer.

We use both CCS 5.1 and 5.2 on Windows 7 systems (x86 and x64). We always get the message with the "Don't Ask Again" check box greyed. See the image below.

It seems this dialogue has a little bug and never worked for us. We'll try to rename the tool instead.
