CCS v5.1 How to add new features to an existing installation

Hello,

I currently have only support for Hercules installed, but now I want to add C2000 and Stelaris support.

Is it possible to add these components without reinstalling CCS?

Thanks,

Christian

  • Hi Christian,

yes, you certainly will be able to do that.  Note one thing ...at the same time you should also verify your license type supports the new hardware etc.

The easiest way to do this is to go

    CCSv4 -

Help->Check for Updates.   You should see the option to search for new content.

    CCSv5-

Help->Install New Software->Drop down select "All avaliable sites".  You should see various tools and feature sets there.

    Please keep us informed.

    Best Regards
    Lisa

  • Lisa,

    I don't see new features in CCS5.

Please see the screenshot, which shows what is available and all teh available sites in my CCS installation.

I don't think that I have any License issues as I'm in the TI network.

When I try to start the CCS5  web setup (ccs_setup_5.1.0.09000.exe) it tells me:

But my installed CCS version matches:

  • Hi Christian,

what makes you think you don't have C2000 or Stellaris support in your install?   Please double check this ....

Please try to create a new project and see what is listed in your drop-down menu.

Is the list I see in your screen capture complete?  Or if you scroll up and down do you see these device tools listed?

If you still do not have C2000 support I may need some colleagues to help dig further here as it seems a bit odd.

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

I'm pretty sure that I haven’t installed it since I thought I don’t need it, nevertheless here is a screenshot from the CCS Project wizard, you can see that I can only choose ARM:

Maybe it is possible to add the necessary sides to the installation dialog manually, but then I would need a list of those.

In general, I’m only asking for this, because I thought I have read that it is possible to add additional features to the installation later on. For me it would be no big deal to uninstall and  CCS5 again. I just want to make sure that there is no general problem with this feature in CCS, so that the customers don’t face into this problem

  • Hi Christian,

ok, thanks for verifying.  Let me try to reproduce this/go through things here and get you feedback as soon as possible.

    Lisa

  • Hi Christian,

ok, unfortunately I have been able to verify that the correct (and only way) to do this is to rerun the installer to the same directory.   You will then be provided the list of devices and families etc.

So you do not need to reinstall, but you do need to rerun the installer.

Please give that a try and keep us informed.  Sorry for the confusion.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Lisa,

If I run the installer and point to the installation directory I got the following message:

    And the installer stops operating.

  • Hi Christian,

ok I have asked some colleagues here to help dig into this as I can't seem to reproduce this.  Did you use the same installer version?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Christian,

Could I have the contents of your c:\program files\installjammer registry folder? Could you zip up and send it to me at d-innis@ti.com?

    thanks

  • Hi Christian,

It looks like you installed a newer version of spectrum digital over the initial CCS installation. Unfortunately, the 5.1.0 version doesn't allow you rerun the installer in that case, to prevent integration issues. 5.1.1 and up does allow it, if the component that's installed necessary to the new ISA being installed.

In the current case, you would need to reinstall CCS. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Danish

  • Danish and Lisa,

Thanks for your investigations on this.

    Christian

  • Hi Christian,

no problem at all, that's what we're here for.   Sorry for the inconvenience of having to suggest a reinstallation.
