Adding other CGT tool versions in CCS 5.1

In CCS 4.x there was a menu option to "manage" and add different versions of CGT tools. How do I do this in CCS 5.1? I'm trying to migrate a current C64+ project to CCS 5.1 but must use an older of the compiler and DSP BIOS tools.

Hi Calvin,

The easiest way in v5

Help->Install New Software. Select "All available Sites" from the drop down.

Alternatively if you download tools separately you can also go into this menu. Older versions can also be found here:

By the way, sorry I forgot to add the BIOS wiki has similar info and links for BIOS versions.

When I select All Sites, I don't see anything related to BIOS or CGT available. The only thing that shows up are updates to emulation drivers. Do I have to manually install all additional software?

Hi Calvin,

please try expanding the emulation drivers ... I believe this name is misleading and you may find the tools there. If not and a normal check for updates also does not find them, let me know what help you need bringing them into CCS a bit more manually.

Actually, I already have the desired versions installed as part of CCSv4. Is there a way to point CCSv5 to an existing installation?

Thanks for the links, however, the wiki pages are a bit confusiing. The secondary link of interest was visually depricated and not obvious at first glance. Could be presented in a more cutomer friendly fashion.

Nope, nothing there except a single emulation driver. There are no CGT tools of any version available using the "Install New Software".

Actually the display issues are partly an IE9 problem (doesn't show all the page). Sorry...

yes, you can point v5 to the installations of such tools from v4.

Try

Window->Preferences->Code Composer Studio->

then

Build->Compilers for code generation tool versions

RTSC->Products for BIOS/XDC

You should then see the options to add and manage these tools.

Cool! That works - and saves me from having duplicate tool installations.

There are enough (sometimes subtle) changes from CCv4 that I think I should know how to do something but in fact I am totally lost. Is there a wiki that delves more deeply into the differences between v4 and v5 (like adding tools)? The pages I've found so far tend to be fairly basic and high level.I only use the TI versions of Eclipse so don't have an in-depth background to draw on.

Unfortunately there is no better documentation we have that I can point you to to expand on such things.
