NDK installation

This is a pretty dumb question.  I'm just trying to find out how to install NDK 2.2 for use with CCS5 and Sys/Bios.  I've already installed CCS5 (full installation), and I've managed to migrate one simple project from CCS3.3 and build it.  I now want to go on to migrate larger projects using the NDK.  I know that the NDK has in the past been installed undere the DSP/BIOS.  I'm not sure how it should now be installed for use with CCS5, Sys/Bios.  I've downloaded the  NDK zip and opened it up.  I've found that the User's Guide has a section (1.2) that purports to address setup, but it seems to have no instructions whatsoever.  I've been searching docs for a long time, and as embarrassing as it is, I do need help with this.  I hope that someone can point me in the right direction.

  • Hi Jim,

Ok, all you need to do should be the following

1- unzip the NDK package so that you have the nkd_2_20_06_35 folder at the same level as your ccsv5 folder and the same level where you should also see one or more bios installations.

    2 - start CCS

3 - CCS should automatically find the new content/feature

4 - you should restart CCS (you will be prompted) after installation.

Please keep us informed how this goes.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Thank you, Lisa.

I did the unzip as you suggested, with CCS5 shut down at the time.  The resulting directory structure is shown at the bottom of this e-mail.

I then started CCS5.  There was no indication that anything had been installed, and no prompt to restart.  Is there somewhere I can look in the CCS5 menus to confirm that it is now aware of the NDK?

  • Hi Jim,

you can check if it is installed, manage your versions etc from the following place.  Please keep and keep us informed.

As per the attached screenshot it it Window->Preferences->Code Composer Studio->RTSC->Products

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Thanks, for your help, but I don't think I'm there yet.  I got the report below.  Pressing "refresh" didn't seem to help.

  • Hi Jim,

I can't see the screenshot or info.  Could you please try reposting?

    Thanks,
    Lisa

  • Sorry about the delay, I had a conf call just after your last message arrived.

I'm not sure what happened.  The screen shot was in the e-mail I received, but not on the web site.  I'm going to try an attachment this time.

  • Hi Jim,

ok I just got your post and screenshot.  As a next step can you please to back to where this screenshot if from and click the "add" button.  Direct CCS to your NDK installation directory.

After doing this please let us know if it is then installed and appears on the list.  It does not currently seem to be there.  If you have installed it to the same level as the ccv5 folder then I wonder if your auto-check for new features might be off.

    Anyhow, please keep us informed.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Thanks for your help, Lisa.

I tried the "add" operation that you suggested.  It didn't work either.  The screen shot that I sent previously showed a check mark in the box for auto discovery of new products, so I think that feature is enabled.  In an earlier post, I had sent the directory structure, which appears to be correct.  The NDK is at the same level as CCS5 in the "c:\ti" directory.

Then, I noticed that there was an "apply" button in the lower right of the screen.  I pressed that button, it rebooted CCS5 (again) and then the listing did include the NDK.  Honestly, I think something may be a little wonky in the auto-discovery area.  Here's the way the screen looks now, so I guess the installation is complete.

  • Hi Jim,

I don't see a screenshot, but it sounds like you are finally installed.  That is odd that you had to do everything so manually.

Is there anything further you need at the moment?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Sorry again about the screen shot.  For some reason copy and paste doesn't work.  It shows up in the message when I am editing it, and it shows up in the e-mail that I receive after the post, but it doesn't show up on the web site.  I should have remembered and sent it as an attachment.

I think we're done with this issue.  I have another question about converting a project using the NDK from CCS3/DSP/BIOS to CCS5/SYS/BIOS, but I think I should probably start a new thread for that.  I'll do it later today.  Right now, I'm under a little pressure for a bug hunt.

    Thanks again for your help.

  • Hi Jim,

    no problem at all.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa
