Preventing CCSv5 from erasing Flash Bank

Hi,

I have data I would like to leave in one of the main MSP430 flash banks. These are the 32kB banks, not the information memory.

Is there a way to prevent CCSv5 from erasing a whole bank? I am not sure whether deleting that section from the linker will do so.

From the MSP430 Debugger Options view, select the "Retain unchanged memory" option and click "remember my settings".

Hi Gustavo,

please see the following pdf on the MSP430 flash properties. Unfortunately the smalles unit that can be worked with for write/erase is an entire segment.

Andy,

Your solution seems to be what I'm looking for. I'll test it. In any case, what if I define a linker file that does not include the section I want to be left alone.

Then that "memory" will be unchanged right?

Gustavo,

To improve erase performance, CCS does a bulk erase of the entire main flash memory. So, even i fyou have no program data being loaded in a particular flash segment, it will still be erased.
