Can we test real license server before eval license expires?

Hello,

This link:

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Licensing_-_CCSv4#Q:_Why_is_CCS_still_using_my_eval_license_after_I_installed_my_real_license.3F

Has this text:

Q: Why is CCS still using my eval license after I installed my real license?

CCS will continue to use the eval license until it expires and then will automatically start using your permanent license if you have installed it via the licensing options dialog or by copying it into ccsv4\DebugServer\license Using the eval license does not limit your functionality in any way.

Is this still the case with CCS 5.1.0? It looks like the page was written for CCS 4.

Several developers here have set up a link to a valid license server but our environments still show that they're using the evaluation license. It would be nice to know, before the actual day that the eval license expires, whether the license server is set up correctly and working. Is there a way to test this without reinstalling CCS 5.1?

Thanks,
Annie

  • Hi Annie,

yes this is expected behaviour.  CCS will not look for a different license until the trial expires.

If these are node locked, unfortunately there is not really an easy way to test without reinstallation and new license setup, they will just have to wait.  Sorry for any inconvenience.

If it is a floating license, perhaps a new PC could be given a fresh installation to test the server.  You could also test the vendor daemon and server status.

There are not really many options for you.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa
