Debugging CLA in CCSv5

Are you sure you loaded the program symbols to the CLA core as well? I don't seem to have an issue with that - check the screenshot attached.

You can set its format to "decimal", but not necessarily float. I have the impression that someone reported this a while back - let me see if I can find a forum post or documentation about that.

I've watched the video and the screenshot.

Regarding the three instructions delay to see a register value changed it's clear, it's because cla pipeline.

Regarding the symbols debugging cla code, I've followed the steps in the video and I've got main symbols in the dissasembly window, like _claStartTask1, _claEndTask1 and so on, but no symbols of the variables, and when I load the symbols I get the following error/message:

No source available for "$../Source/ClaCam.asm:70:333$() at Y:\DIGITEC\Proj\Didac Mendez\DT301CEN\uSoft\V1_0_0_0\ccs4\Debug\DT301CEN-STPV1_0_0_0.out:{3} 0x9000{4}"

Maybe some path variable in CCSv5 is incorrect?

Regarding to show the register values in float format, it seems to me that I've read in some forum, I can't remember where, that in CCSv4 this was an issue and it was corrected in a later upgrade always in CCSv4. Is this the same case in CCSv5?

Josep,

The message simply indicates the debugger can't find the sources that correspond to the address in the target  (you can tell it is trying to point to a path relative to the .out file).

Check the section Debugging without a project (slide 48) of the CCSv5 Tips & Tricks presentation. A link to it is here.

Regarding the float display, there is an enhancement already filed. Check this forum thread. I will make sure the CLA registers are also included.

I added the CLA registers to the enhancement request. This issue requires changes to the Eclipse open source code, therefore its implementation will not be necessarily quick (this avoids breaking compatibility with the rest of the world). An Eclipse bugzilla was also filed regarding this request.

A workaround is to display the value of the register in the Memory Browser, as shown in the attached picture.

Regarding the float display, displaying the value of the register in the Memory Browser, works well while we await the enhancement. OK.

Regarding to load symbols in cla debug, I've followed the steps in the presentation mentioned. According to that, there're four ways to do that,

First and recommended: I have no button "Locate file" (I'm always in the cla CPU)

Second: In the popup menu of the cla cpu, there is no option "'Edit source lookup". But, it IS in the main cpu popup menu.

Third: I've followed all the steps with no result.

Fourth: I've followed all the steps with no result.

I've tried many things with no result until I've remebered that in the same area of memory I have overlapped two sections of code. (the first one for the cla code and the second one for main cpu code when I dont use the cla).

If I avoid this overlap the symbols and source file link, etc load correctly in the normal way by default and I can step trought the code in the normal way without problems.

Is this an issue?
