CCSTUDIO-OPENOCD: Question regarding device support roadmap for the TI Embedded Debug VS Code extension

Part Number: CCSTUDIO-OPENOCD

Hi,

I confirmed via the link below that TI provides an Embedded Debug extension for VS Code.
In the list of supported devices, I found the MSPM0, MSPM33, and SimpleLink series. I would like to know whether support for other MCU/DSP families—including the C2000 MCUs—is planned to be added, or whether the extension will continue to support only low-power application MCUs and wireless connectivity devices as it currently does.

TI Embedded Debug for VS Code

  • Sang-il,

The plan is to expand our OpenOCD support across a lot more TI devices.  The Arm-based MCUs are first but we do plan on supporting C2000 as well (C29 to start with and then C28 support is being investigated).

  • JohnS,

You mentioned that support is planned for the future. Has a specific target schedule been established?
Or is it currently only under consideration, with no concrete roadmap available yet?

    Best regards,
    Sang-il

  • Sang-il,

The schedule is not set yet for C2000.  It would be next year but I cannot say when. We expect to be in good shape across Arm-based MCUs this year with OpenOCD. You will also see improvements to our VS Code extension package.

    Regards,

    John
