"Problem Occurred" 'Checking for Updates'

Hi Kurt,

we have been looking into various update issues in the last few days. 

Can you please specify if you were looking for a specific update?  What do you see in your list of available software sites? (Window->preferences->Install/update->available software sites.

Were you targeting something specific? These look like directories on your pc.  What if you deselect them in the available sites?  Note that it is a known issue at this current time to do an upgrade to get ccs 5.1.1 if you had installed the november release from the web installer.

I was simply trying to 'Check for Updates'.  Nothing specific.

The directories are where I installed Microsoft Team Explorer Everywhere.  Apparently ccs5 decided this was a repository. In the Preferences I unchecked the directory and the ZIP.  Now the Check for Updates runs without error.

I do not understand.  Do I need to upgrade to 5.1.1.  How do I do this?

ok, glad removing those sites worked.   I would recommend getting CCS5.1.1. but it is not strictly necessary.  The way to do is it to either install it as a serparate installation or install over your existing CCS to upgrade.

Finding updates at TI is always difficult and time consuming for me.  Where would I find this particular update?

what I would recommend is download the full 5.1.1 from our download site (below). You  are then free to install it over your existing installation or a separate one.  This will get you to our latest release.

downloaded 5.1.1.  I have cancelled the setup for now.

on the dialog there is a checkbox that says, "Install CCS plugins into an existing Eclipse installation". Do I check this box or not?  If I check the box where do I point "Existing Eclipse Location"?

1 - I do not know why I would install 5.1.1 in a directory different from 5.1.0

2 - the setup will not allow me to "make the "CCS Installation Folder" the same as before". the setup gives the choices below.  which should I choose?

Hi Kurt,

you can feel free to select "Next" ... this will basically install 5.1.1 with the updates included into the same folder where you had CCS before.  So you will be updated and not need to have two installations as I have been describing.
