Floating License Problem

I am not able to gwt CCS to use our floating license server. When I initially installed CCS, I was prompted to select a license source. I selected our license server and CCS accepted the selection. I later reinstalled CCS and was not prompted for the license selection. CCS says (Licensed) on the top bar, but I can only run the debugger on the evaluation board - if I try and run the debugger on my own hardware I get a licensing error. If I select Help -Licensing Options - Specify a license server and enter the address and port, CCS accepts the input but if I check again, the setting has reverted to "Specify a license file". LM_LICENSE_FILE is set correctly and I use several other programs that access the licnes server without problems.

  • Hi Daniel,

What CCS version do you have?  What version floating license?   What exact error do you get?  What differences are there in the working and non working setups?

Could you please provide a bit more detail.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa:

I am using CCS veriosn 4.2.4.00033. We are trying to locate a copy of the license to determine its version (I asked our CIS guy if he could help us, but he said there were too many licenses on the server for him to figure which one was for CCS). Anyhow, I tried running the debugger on my hardware to get the error message and now it works. I guess I'll put this on the back burner for now. I'll post again if the problem reoccurs.

    Thanks,

    Dan

  • Hi Daniel,

I simply meant v4 or v5 license, but if you use CCSv4 then either license should work.

Thanks for the update and I am glad to hear it appears to now be working.  All the best with development and if a problem does occur please do post to us again.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa
