CCS 4: patch error

A customer has reported the following issues - any thoughts on what could be the problem?   We suggested not installing BIOS, but would still like to know what the issue could be in case it is needed later.

For the 2nd question - I believe the limited version on CCS4 just limits the linker output to 32kb, and does not include BIOS- is this correct?

I have downloaded the CCS v4 software patch twice trying to get it to load on my computer.  It seems to fail every time when it gets to "DSP/BIOS 5".  It sems to have an "Execution error" saying that it's "missing a closed-bracket", I assume in the Execution script.  Very frustrating.

I guess the first question I would ask is.....do I need "DSP/BIOS 5"? Sort of dead in the water with the failure.

Can you let me know what I should do next?  I might try loading the code without BIOS 5 and deal with it later, if I need it.

====

Had better luck when I turned off Both "BIOS5" and BIOS6".  Now that it's loaded, can I get all the resources I need for the TMS320F2806x by using the "Free limited License" or do I need a full license?  I, of course, have already registered on the webpage.  I needed to do that just to get the software.

  • Lori,

    I couldn't yet find anything specific tied to the error mentioned by the customer, but if he is trying to apply the patch to an existing limited version of CCSv4 I imagine the BIOS installation will fail, as this version does not support it.

    I can try to do this here but it will take some time.

    BTW, you are correct for the second question.

    Regards,
