Problems running emulator

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F2810

I have the following configuration:

Windows 7

CCSv5 (5.1.0.09000)

emulator: XDS510PP+

target: TMS320F2810

I can't get the emulator to work.  I set it up using the Target Configuration option to have the right emulator and target (although it lists the XDS510PP, it doesn't list the +).  But when I try to launch the selected configuration, it fails with a "Disconnected: Unknown" message.

I also tried using the utility SdConfigEx.exe to debug the problem.  When I use it to scan the ports (Configuration > Ports Available > Printer, USB), it gives the error message "Could not open the driver (.sys file)".  From what I've read, the emulator driver should have been installed when CCS was installed.  I can't find a driver for the emulator that supports CCSv5 on the internet, so I'm at a loss.

  • Hi,

According to Spectrum Digital's XDS510PP+ product page, the parallel port emulators are not supported in Windows 7 anymore. Sorry.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • I think that Spectrum Digital's web page is out of date.  Their product compatibility matrix says that the XDS510PP+ is compatible with Win7 when using CCSv5.  I think that the problem may be that the BIOS has the parallel port in the wrong mode.

I have been using a XDS510USB+ in the meantime.  Although it is able to connect and functions properly for a while, it almost always ends up crashing.  I get an error (Error -1156) that says the emulator has lost communications with the chip, or that it has entered a low power state.  If I select the option to remove it from a low power state, CCS crashes and closes immediately.
