Transfering CCSv4 license to CCSv5.1 - how do you do it?

according to the CCSv5 FAQ page:

Yes for any beta version before RC1. Just copy the file into ccsv5\ccs_base\DebugServer\license For RC1 and after please download the temporary license along with CCS (available from the same download page) or purchase a v5 license when they become available in the very near future. V4 licenses under subscription will be able to obtain a v5 license

so i copied my .lic file into that directory and chose to activate it in CCSv5.1 but it says it is for CCSv4 and i cannot debug. i do not see any "temporary license" on the download page so maybe that is the piece i am missing. there is almost no documentation on this. is this possible or do we have to buy CCSv5.1 licenses?

Hello,

CCSv5 is licensed separately from v4.

You have 3 options

1 - if you have a current CCSv4 license and subscription, you are allowed to upgrade this as follows

· Go to www.ti.com/myregisteredsoftware

· Find your row for TMDSCCS-ALLF03-v4.0

· Click MANAGE and then click UPGRADE – GET NEW LICENSE

· Click E-mail license - you will receive two (2) emails: Instructions and License File with attachment (.lic)

· You MUST follow these instructions to save this new License File (.lic) before you can use your upgraded version 5.1

2 - you can use a type of free license. For example a 90 day evaluation or a free bundle license. The XDS100 for example is free to use with CCS.

3 - you can purchase a license

By the way, what you are refering to is v5.0.x and very early beta released that would work with a v4 license. These however are highly unrecommneded.

in my "manage software" page i have three options:

Download full product

Get a replacement license

re-host a license

there is no upgrade option

So i tried it, i got an email saying exactly what you said -just click on manage and click on upgrade- but there is still no upgrade option for me in my manage section. nothing has changed

it sounds like you will have to contact the license team. This is the correct email for their support for you upgrade/subscription.

Hello,

I bought the LM3S1968 evaluation kit and it comes with a Bundle License to use CCSv4. I would like to know if I can upgrade to CCSv5 with no cost?

Hi Wilson,

if you are using the free bundle license, like that for the XDS100, this is still available in v5. I would download the latest v5 version and give it a try.

Hi Lisa,

The bundle license seems built-in the installation CD (I simply installed CCSv4 from the bundled CD and it is licensed). May I ask how to transfer the license to CCSv5? Thanks.

HI Wilson,

for v5 you need a new license. Download and install v5. When asked about the license select the free limited license
