can I run UIA based tools with the captureVip test program provided for the VPSS on the DM8168?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSBIOS

I am using CCS5.1.1.  I have the captureVip test program running on the VPSS of the DM8168.  Can I se the system analyzer to monitor CPU utilization and sysbios objects. If so, what are the steps involved in creating a project so that the system analyzer will work?

I have set up my project as a C project, just so I can browse the source.  Does the project have to be RTSC-enabled?

  • All I want to be able to monitor the stacks and heap usage.  This was a very obvious capability to use in CCS3.1 but it's not obvious at all how to use it in CCS5.x.

  • Hi Neil,

    I'm not familiar with captureVIP. Does it use SYS/BIOS? Are you loading the VPSS core directly with CCS or via the ARM?

  • Todd:

         I use CCS to load the M3 with captureVip.  I am not using the A8 to load captureVip.  captureVip is a sysbios program.

  • Great. The easiest thing to get you up and running is to add the following lines into your applications .cfg file. This sets you up for stopmode analysis. Make sure to add UIA as a RTSC product in your application properties.

    var LoggingSetup = xdc.useModule('ti.uia.sysbios.LoggingSetup');
    LoggingSetup.sysbiosSwiLogging = true;
    LoggingSetup.sysbiosHwiLogging = true;

    Rebuild your app and load it. Start System Analyzer (Tools->System Analyzer->Live). Since you loaded with CCS, everything should auto-detect. Set System Analyzer to collect until halted. Run can run your application now. Once you halt the application, System Analyzer should pick up the events. You can "analyze" to see the execution graph or CPU Load or Task Load now.

    The UIA User Guide gives mcuh more details on both the CCS and target side.
