Installing CCS5.1 on Windows Server Enterprise, SP2

We want to install CCSv5.1 on a machine running Windows Server Enterprise, SP2.  Is it possible?  This is a build server to automate the nightly builds of our DSP projects.  Currently it works fine for CCS3.3.  But when we try to install CCS v5.1, we get the following the error:

What options do we have to be able to perform automated builds on our build server?

thanks,

Mike

  • Hi Mike,

although not officially supported, you could certainly give the installation an try.  There might be a compatibility mode you can use.  Also, it will hopefully give you access to some of the things that might be of interest to you to do command line builds.  I am not sure if this is what you have been doing, but CCSv5 also supports command line build and had some scripting features.

Have a look at the CCS Users guide and some of these tools

    Please keep us informed.

  • This did seem to install on the Windows Server Enterprise platform.  We still need to verify it builds correctly.

For the licensing of this, we should be able to use the "free" version, right?  All we are doing is performing builds that will get programmed onto targets.  It is not used for development (e.g. downloading to targets via emulators).

    thanks,

    Mike

  • Hi Mike,

yes, I believe the license check starts when the debugger starts.  The exception might be the MSP430 as the free license is limited at the compiler level.  So you should be good to go.  I hope it all works out.
