CCS5 Installation Fails on WIndows 7 64-bit

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO, MSP430F5529

Hello, I am trying to install CCS5 on a Windows 7 x64 machine. I have had a previous installation of CCS4, and have uninstalled it beforehand. When I try to install, I get an installation failure very early in the process, and am directed to a log file, which I have attached to this post. Currently, I am able to use the command line MSP430 flasher to program my microcontroller, but I would like the additional debugging features present in CCS.

1261.ccs_setup_5.1.1.00031_install.log

I have also included my eclipse install log, which is in the same folder. The eclipse portion of the installation appears to complete, though.

Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Hi Gregory,

let us see if the log tells us something.  A couple more questions

    - did you use the full installer and unzip the contents before installing?

    - what if you manually clean out ccsv4 and the installjammer registry directory (CCS entries) and try again?

    - did you try redownloading in case of corruption?

    - it did not seem like it from a very quick initial look, but are you making sure not to use any directories with accented or special characters?

    - have you tried selecting more than just msp430 support?

    Please keep us informed.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • 1) I used the full installer and unzipped before installing

    2) I manually deleted the ccsv4 and ccsv5 entries in the InstallJammer registry directory

    3) I redownloaded twice to account for corruption

    4) I am installing to C:\ti so no special characters

    5) I tried selecting more than just MSP430 support

None of these things affected the installation failure. It seems to crash on installing something related to the DebugServer, which is apparently a win32 component.

  • Hi Gregory,

You're right the debugserver didn't install correctly. There's a separate log file for that - c:\program files (x86)\installjammer registry\DebugServer\4F9A85D9-5F0E-E538-D71C-621DF59F81FA\TI_dss_install.log. Could you attach that here, please? I'll take a look and get back to you as soon as possible.

    thanks

    Danish Innis

  • I looked in the installjammer registry folder and there is no logfile or even folder created for DebugServer

  • It looks like Eclipse failed to correctly "download" the feature from your local repository.

Can you take a look in C:\Users\gfisher\Downloads\CCS5.1.1.00031_win32\CCS5.1.1.00031_win32\featurerepo\binary and see if you have a file named com.ti.ccstudio.debugserver.win32_root_5.1.0.539. It' size should be 26,013kb. There should be another file named com.ti.ccstudio.debugserver.win32_5.1.0.539.jar in the folder ..\features.

In the meanwhile, I'll keep digging through the logs that I do have.

    Danish

  • Hmm, doesn't look like those files exist.

  • It looks like your download or extraction is busted. The md5 checksum on that zip file is:

    b3585145fc218fe57993b481f39d7fab *CCS5.1.1.00031_win32.zip

Hope it goes smoothly for you, once you've downloaded it again.

  •  I encounter the same mistake at installing ccsv5.4.  And here is a picture when I double click the ccs_setup_5.4.0.00091.exe which is the mistake. Then I click ok but still install failed at debugserver .I find  the com.ti.ccstudio.debugserver.win32_root_5.4.0.279.I install this software for msp430f5529 launchpad.
