MSP430 4.0.0 huge code size growth with sprintf

Hi there.

We tried using the compiler earlier in the year but it produced huge code size, I think this was something to do with the sprintf implementation.

Can you please advise whether this has been fixed in 4.0.1 and if so advise where this can be downloaded?

Currently we are running CGT 3.2 on CCSv5.1 because the larger code size of the 4.0.0 compiler would not fit into our msp chip anymore.

Are you using the --printf_support=minimal option? The library code for printf is larger in 4.0 because it has to support 64-bit "long long int" values, and if you use --printf_support=minimal, that support is removed. Even if you actually need full printf support, trying this will tell you if the code growth is due to support for "long long int".

Hi Stevan,

there was another problem with larger RAM usage due to increasing section usage in the changed runtime library.

This bug is fixed in MSP430 CGT 4.0.2
