Which license to debug dsp code under linux

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP3530, DM3730

Hi there

I need to debug the arm and the dsp on the beagleboard xm and I'm wondering which license of the CCS do I need to do so? Does the free version support debugging on the dsp?
If I read it correctly the JTAG emulator from TI would do the job: XDS100v3. Is the JTAG emulator from TinCanTools Flyswatter2 also supported by the CCS?

Thanks help
Philipp

  • Hi Philipp,

Have a look at this wiki.  The XDS100 is free to use with CCS.  Support for the TinCan Tools emulator must come from them.

Please just let us know if this gets you all the information you need.

    best regards,

  • Hi Lisa
    thanks for your reply.

It din't helped me that much. I need to be able to debug the DaVinci DM3730 and the OMAP3530 (both on the BeagleBoard xm).

regarding to your link and this one here: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS
    there are several free licenses:

Evaluation License: is for only 90 days
    Code Size Limited (MSP430)
    : is for MSP430 and C28x only
    Bundle License (Free Limited License)
: will only work with the eval kits available

so there is no free license of CCS which I can use to fit my needs, right?

  • Hi Phil,

the beagle board requires an external emulator, so as long as you use an XDS100, yes you can use CCS free.

Does that clarify for you now?

Emulator dependent, yes there is a free option for you.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa
