Does CCS5 support the TMS320DM642

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320DM642

Hi,

I'm currently using the TMS320DM642 with CCS3 and would like to upgrade to CCS5.

I have two quick questions:

1. Does CCS5 support the TMS320DM642?

2. Does the XDS100 programmer support the TMS320DM642?  I have seen conflicting information on the TI web site about this, hence the question.

Thanks,

Ossian

This site is pretty accurate regarding XDS100:

  • Hi Ki,

    Thanks for the clarification.

I'm looking for a less expensive programming alternative to the XDS510.  Essentially I have a board with the TMS320DM642 and flash memory and I would like to program the flash memory using JTAG through the TMS320DM642, so I don't need all the features of the XDS510.

Are you aware of any less expensive JTAG programming solutions that are compatible with both the TMS320DM642 and CCS5?

    Thanks,

    Ossian

  • The XDS510 Parallel Port emulators are probably your best bet right now for low cost (assuming you have a parallel port on your PC). There are plans to support an emulator to fill the gap between XDS100 and XDS510/560 in terms of cost and performance but those will not be available until later in the year.

  • Ki,

Thanks, I'll look into the Parallel Port solution.  Good to know a less expensive alternative to the XDS510 is in the works.

    Thanks,

    Ossian
