CCS v5 build problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Hello,

I have build problem with CCS v5.

CCS v3.3 works very well in my computer. But CCS v4(code limited version) and CCS v5.1.1(90 day trial) doesn't work.(Of course, I'm will purchase license after this test.)

I used sample code named 'FlashingLeds-F28069'. And all options were set as default of CCS v5.1.1.

I reinstalled your CCS v5 in the office after I disabled Fire-Wall and Anti-virus s/w but it still didn't work.

Anyhow, on the way of building I met the error like following;

**** Build of configuration F2806x_FLASH for project FlashingLeds-F28069 ****

C:\ti\ccsv5\utils\bin\gmake -k all

  • Hi Haengjae,

First of all, are you importing this project?  I would recommend sticking with trying the full 90 day CCSv5.1.1 trial and importing your v3.3 project there.  Alternatively as you seem to be using a F28069 .. there are examples available right in CCS.

    - do the examples build and compile without error?  If you try a fresh workspace and example project?

    - can you provide a bit more detail on what you are doing?

    - this seems like an include path/build variable needs to be corrected or added.  Check these wikis

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Include_paths_and_options

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Importing_Projects

    Please keep us informed.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

    Thanks for your answer.

I did import the project but it shows 'path error' like I said before.  I did importing v3.3 project and got the 'path error'.

    I used example codes also and still I see following error;

Error: Program "C:/ti/ccsv5/utils/bin/gmake" is not found in PATH

I did include paths exactly as you anounced but it still can't find 'gmake.exe'file.

Frankly speaking, the CCS v5 works well in my home PC. But all computers in my office doesn't works(I tested with my co-workers).

I don't know why this situation happens. It must be worked in the office.

I like your previous platform used to CCS v3.x series. CCS V3.x works very well in all computers.

Someone in my office installed 'Eclipse' to make android software but it works well.

In my opinion, something become very sensitive in finding gmake.exe's path in the new platform of CCS V4~5.

I hope that you will help me. Please let me know that my opinion is wrong.

    Thanks

  • Haengjae - your issue sounds similar to the one reported here:

    http://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/code_composer_studio/f/81/t/189277.aspx

    Thanks

    ki

  • Hi, Ki-Soo

I clicked the link you anounced.

It seems that you are wondering this brace  -> [ ].

    This brace is nothing.

I just did copy and paste the message window of CCS v5 when I failed building. [] was created by your CCS v5 error message window.

That path is not inserted by me. That path message also appears on the error message window when I failed compile.

Additionally, I also wonder that why ccs v5 uses both "\" and "/".

You can see the message 'Error: Program "C:/ti/~~~~~~"~~" uses wrong slash(/). Please refer red marker in the following message.

I didn't edit the following message except the marker.

  • Please make sure that gmake.exe is in your C:\ti\ccsv5\utils\bin directory. The error you see will happen when CCS cannot find gmake in the expected directory. When it cannot find it, it will check the system PATH. But unless you have a bad install, I don't know what that file would be missing in the default .\ccsv5\utils\bin directory.

    ki

  • Thanks for your consideration!

'gmake.exe' is located in my C:\ti\ccsv5\bin directory exactly. Path is correct. I checked it for many times.

And I still can't build project with CCSv5.

  • That is strange, I do not know why CCS is complaining it cannot find gmake. What version of Windows are you using? And what language Windows? Are you using Korean Windows?

  •  I use window XP Professional Korean version.

I guess that this problem is because of crashs between ccsv5 and groupware of my company. Because CCSv5 works very well in my home PC.

I killed firewall and anti-virus s/w during s/w installation. But It was useless. And I can't kill groupwares.

Your new CCS changed flatform as Eclipse. But It is not the problem of Eclipse. Because Eclipse works very well in my computer when I build sw for android development. And other compiler also works very well( IAR, KEIL.. ).

I hope your CCSv5 will release patch s/w someday!   My company is not a small company in Korea. I guess that all subsidary companies can't use your CCS4 or CCS5. Anyhow CCSv3 works very well.

  • Hi Haengjae,

is CCS using any directories or folders with special or accented characters?  We have seen issues with this and if the PC is Korean it makes me wonder.  Also in v5 what device support is installed?  Only C2000?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

The location is C:\ti\ccsv5\eclipse\ccstudio.exe. And project files are located in D:\Virtual\share\CCS\.

In case of the device support option, I installed CCSV5 several times so sometimes I installed C2000 only and sometimes I installed with all support option.

    Best Regards,

    Shin

  • Hi Shin,

You mentioned that you're using CCSv5.1.1.  If that is still the case, could you please download and install the latest CCS version (5.2.0)?

Let us know if you're still experiencing problems.

    Thanks,

    - Baltasar

  • Hi Baltasar,

Today, I tested my project using ver 5.2.0.

    And It still doesn't works.

    Thanks,

  • Could you try creating a new Hello World project in CCSv5.2.0?  Does it build?  If not, please zip the project, and upload it so I could have a look.

Also, please upload your <workspace>/.metadata/.log file.

    Thanks,

    - Baltasar

  • Hi Baltasar,

    I'm sorry I was late.

I had to get approval process in my company to upload file. So I was late.

I attach whole project file as workspace.zip.

Log file is also included in the attached project file.

    Thanks,

    Shin

    4643.workspace.zip

  • Hi Haengjae,

the logs and workspace look normal from what we can tell so we have been somewhat out of ideas here unfortunately.  It seems likely connected to the non english windows but that makes it something yet harder to reproduce unfortunately.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi All,

I know this has been dead for a long time but I was struggling with the same issue displaying the same symptoms as you describe.

In my C:\ti\ccsv5\utils\bin folder a file called gmake (no extension - type "file") had recently been created with size 0kB. I deleted it and everything worked fine again.

This is all in English with Windows 7.

    Thanks,

    Adam

  • Hi,

Thanks for your consideration. But my PC is Windows XP and I can't see gmake file with no extension and 0kB.

Now a days, I installed virtualbox. And I installed a pure Windows XP in it.

My CCS5 in virtualbox works well with no problem. But I don't like this solution.

    Thanks,

    Shin

  • Hi all,

I have the exact same problem i stumbled across just now.

I think the issue is administrator rights to the folder sitting in C drive.

Because gmake is an application, without administrator rights this file wont run when called by the CCS IDE.

I havent verified this but the same projects used to work on my PC which i had full admin rights of. But i do think most likely that this is the reason why gmake file is not running for us all.

    Cheers

    JoeL

  • Hi all,

I came to know the reason why CCS doesn't work. My company use 'Symantec Endpoint Protection' anti virus s/w. And I can't delete it.

If you use that software. please check the version of that s/w.

If you have version 12.x.xxx.xxx, you can solve that by changing it's option.(Change Settings -> Client Management -> Configure Settings-> General -> Application and Device control  -> uncheck option)

If you have older version, you must update 'Symantec Endpoint Protection' to the last version. Or please delete 'Symantec Endpoint Protection' and use Avast. ^^
