CCS 5 crashes at startup

I recently tried installing CCS5.1.1.00033_linux on Ubuntu. Though the installation was successful, the application crashes on launching.

When I try launching CCS, the initialization takes place correctly, it prompts for a workspace directory and the IDE gets displayed for about a second and closes suddenly.

Though my question seems similar to http://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/code_composer_studio/f/81/t/161753.aspx, it ddn't help me.

I tried installing it on Ubuntu 10.04 and Ubuntu 11.10. Both obtained the same result!

As mentioned in the query of the above link, I installed it in home folder and even tried installing in /opt/ti/. All my attempts were in vain.

I did not find any error logs, tried debugging the application and this is what I got:

The segmentaion fault sems to occur soon after I enter the location of workspace.
When all of this failed I even tried giving complete access to local user, and still the same.
I guess, I had provided enough information to help you in guiding me.
Thanks!

  • Hi Anoop,

Did you install and launch as sudo?   Could you please send the contents of your installjammer registry directory?

Are there any error logs or further details you can provide?  If you use 64 bit Linux have you installed 32 bit support and all necessary dependent packages?

    Please keep us informed.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Yes, I installed as sudo.

When I launch as sudo, this is what i get:

No error logs or any further details are available. I am using a 32bit Linux system.

I will send the installjammer registry contents asap.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Anoop,

great thanks, we will have a look at those.  In the mean time have a look at these threads to see if you find any helpful tips.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Lisa,

The first link that you shared seems somewhat similar to what I am dealing with.  AndyW has been so helpful in trying to solve the problem. I will have to go through all the steps that he had asked to do to confirm whether its the same problem. But I do not want my work to be delayed due to the above mentioned issue. Dependency was the reason for the previous issue and as a result the other user had to re-install Ubuntu to get it working.

As its a painful step for me, I had requested for the Windows version of CCS. I would be more than thankful if the same request can be processed at the earliest.

But I will get back to you after having a thorough study of the current issue, as Ubuntu is the primary OS on which I work.

    Thank you,

    Anoop

  • Hi Anoop,

ok, lets hope the Windows version can help you with your development in the mean time.  Please keep us informed when you do the troubleshooting in Linux and sorry for the inconvenience.
