can not get CCS5.2 debug session stated

I recently switched form IAR to ccs5.2 .

I am using MSP-FET430UIF jtag and a OLIMEX F1611 development board. I compiled a very simple LED blinking program. The CCS5.2 has load the new Firmware to the UIF and restated.

the debug session was stalled after following message

MSP430: Program loaded. Code Size - Text: 180 bytes Data: 82 bytes.

the FET430UIF both red and green LED are on and stay on for ever.

all the selection under run menu are greyed out.

I checked the msp430.dllv3 was also in the install directory

Is anyone can help me out.

thanks

Scott

  • HI Scott,

    Have you seen this wiki?

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/MSP_Debug_Stack

Have you tried manually upgrading to the v3 dll?   What version of IAR do you use?   Have you tried managing the firmware with the free Elprotronic flash tools?  www.elprotronic.com

    Please keep us informed.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Yes I've read the MSP_Debug_Stack My uif is v1.4a and new firmware was downloadded automatically.

    I did a search of msp430.dll I found both msp40.dll and msp430v3.dll are in my ccs52 directory.

I don't know which one are used. but my UIF both red and green led are on

  • Hi Scott,

if you downgrade does the Elprotronic tool work with the FET?  Ie can you confirm whether the FET is general has become unstable or broken?

Have you tried the start menu upgrade utility?  Does it work?

Have you tried making a safe copy eleswhere/renaming all msp430 dlls on the system except the v3 dll in the CCS 5.2 tree?

Please keep us informed.  If some of this does not work, we may need to pull in the MSP team as well here.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa
