cannot use add global variables function in ccs4.2.4

Could you provide more details? Providing a small reproducible test case would help.

When you use this option, a dialog box should appear with a list of global variables that you can select to add to the watch view. Do you not see this dialog at all?

hi,

It used to be work just as what you say,right click on the item named"add global variables...", poped up  a dialog box, and then select the one I wanna to watch.

But, suddenly one day the item named "add global variables..." turned to be grey and cann't be clicked....That make me a big trouble, because the variables use this method(right click on the item named"add global variables...", ) added has a prefix indicating where it from(file,module ...etc), if I myself add a variable, I don't know how to spell those prefix....

That is odd. For strange instances like that where it just stopped working for no reason, I suggest try using a new workspace. Or delete some of the target configuration cached files. More details on both are in the below link:
