EVM c6678 Shannon EVM unable to connect to target from CCS 5.1 tools.

I get the following error with shannon board EVM c6678. Can anyone advise what is going wrong here. 

Error connecting to the target:
(Error -183 @ 0x0)
The controller has detected a cable break far-from itself.
The user must connect the cable/pod to the target.
(Emulation package 5.0.663.0)

  • Are you using the onboard XDS100 or the 560v2 Mezz card?

  • I am connecting USB cable to PC from mini USB on the EVM c6678 (shannon board). I am using Windows Ccs 5.2.0.00069. I am also displaying the Test configuration result:

  • Vuppaladhadiam,

    "... a cable break far-from itself" indicates that the connection at the header side (to the board) is broken. In other words, the connection between CCS to the emulator is ok (even the SW is working fine).

    So, please check whether the emulator has been pushed in the connection header appropriately.

  • The EVM trace connector is removed and still it gives problem. Currently I am just trying to connect through USB on the EVM. My EVM looks like this: 

  • What Wen said is corret however if you are using the onboard XDS100 make sure to select XDS100v1 as the connection type.  If I select XDS100v2 I get the same error as you, however if I use XDS100v1 then I can connect fine.
